about questionwhy

In 2007, we headed to Nepal to volunteer for a fair trade company employing victims of human trafficking. We designed a collection of 50 bags and a range of jewellery, sourced hardware, created patterns, taught construction, learnt nepali and travelled to meetings atop rice lorrys and local buses.

We arrived home six months later, to continue working on ethical and sustainable projects. To help companies create products that are desirable by design and important for their ethics. To help designers find new ethical sources for materials and production.

We’re only small. It is just the two of us, and a handful of really helpful people with good advice. But like this website, we will grow, slow but strong. If you would like to be part of it, if there is something you like or that inspires you or if you have any questions, send us an e-mail, give us a call or just pop round for a cup of tea.
